Hoka has a new look, as seen here on the updated Clifton. While the shoe appears more like mainstream models, all of its max-cushioning power is intact. The sleek aesthetic comes from more paint along the top half of the foam, making the shoe look like it sits lower to the ground. And the foam is slightly firmer, according to tests at the RW Shoe Lab. Wear-testers, however, tell us it's still plenty soft and feels a little faster. That change, says Hoka, combined with a new rubber pattern underfoot, is designed to help the shoe last longer. "Durability is fantastic," says one tester. "I ran 150 miles in them, including a 50-miler in the Catskills. I put them in the wash and dried them with newspapers, and they look as new as the day I got them."
