First American edition, first printing hardcover copy of My Friend the Garden by Fernand Lequenne (Doubleday & Company, 1965). Translated from the French by Suzanna Combes Taylor, with preface by Louise de Vilmorin. Hard to find vintage memoir detailing Lequenne’s relationship with his garden and the earth. Jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with mild rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges - including chipping, creasing and small tears. Boards faintly bowed away from text block at fore edge and with corners bumped. Slightly cocked spine with a few instances of mildly split binding. Previous owner’s inscription on front endpaper and a few pages unevenly tanned due to paper being stored in between pages for some time. Otherwise all pages are clean and unmarked.
